Both the Government of Canada and the Government of Alberta provide benefits for seniors. These benefits take the form of regular monthly pensions, health coverage (see Health section) and other assistance. Benefits are affected by length of residence in Canada and whether an immigrant is sponsored.
Help may be available if sponsorship has broken down. Seniors should never stay in a dangerous situation because of lack of money. Call 2-1-1 any time to ask for help in your own language. Call 9-1-1 if it is an emergency.
